Part of the 0lll website, 'London Skyline' seeks to "explore, through the medium of photography, the buildings that give form to the silhouette of the city". Thus, the site features images of buildings as diverse as Bankside Power Station, the BT Tower and Foster and Partners' Gherkin, each one accompanied by limited but helpful annotation, and providing a fascinating and enjoyable exploration of Britain's capital city. Unfortunately, the images were failing to display when Sapling last visited the site - rather a flaw for a site of this kind - but hopefully it will be quickly remedied. [GAS, 8 Nov 2005].

Created by Yes San Francisco LLC, San Francisco Virtual Tours "uses unique technology to allow navigation around the city as if you are there: move forward, turn left, right, around, look at items" - at least if you have a Java-enabled browser, anyway. The site is an impressive undertaking, containing over 60 tours around "all most popular attractions", including streets, parks, buildings, bridges, monuments and squares. It claims to offer particularly good coverage of "places dedicated solely to architecture", with visitors able to "walk along Golden Gate Bridge, Alamo Square, and relax at Golden Gate Park". There has to be a commercial plug somewhere, and the site encourages visitors to buy a CD-ROM featuring nearly 4,000 photographs of San Francisco; moreover, the photos on the CD are full screen, rather than the small size of those on the Internet.
