An ambitious project to provide a global information resource for architecture launches this week in London. WorldArchitectureNews.com (WAN) allows architects to publish their work online in a 'snapshot' format to a vast database of developers and architects. This virtual marketplace allows architects to gain global exposure, even for small projects. Potential clients can explore a wider range of architects work and WAN's indexing system enables projects to be easily located by a number of search criteria, from sector type and geography to timescale and cost.
Since its soft launch in June, interest in WAN has steadily grown and its weekly News Review is already being distributed to developers, organisations and architects in 80 countries.
WAN Chairman Richard Coleman says: "Response from the industry has been extremely enthusiastic and the feedback from users has been very positive." Julian Honer, Editorial Director, Merrell Publishers (London and New York) comments, "The World Architecture News website is irresistible in its focus and simplicity – so much so that it's extraordinary that no one has put something like this together before. It is sure to become the resource of choice for anyone requiring information on contemporary architecture worldwide."
WAN is aiming to rapidly evolve into the first digital news channel for architecture and has already taken the first steps by introducing 'On the move' a series of interviews with leading architects in MP3/IPOD format designed to allow architects and developers from around the world to listen in on their way home.
