Application form

The core of Sapling is, and always has been, its reviews of architecture, planning and landscape-related websites.

We can offer you:

• Excellent experience for your CV of preparing and writing web content, and the satisfaction of contributing to one of the world's most popular and respected built environment gateway sites;
• The potential to progress to Assistant Editor status (with responsibility for a specific Gateway) after a year;
• All reviews credited with your initials, linking to your name and profile on Sapling's People page;
• A sapling.info e-mail address.

We are looking for people who:

• Recognise Sapling's value as "a global gateway for information, and a forum for its exchange";
• Have knowledge, skills and/or experience relating to one or more of Sapling's themed Gateways (Architecture, Construction, Culture, Heritage, Housing, Interior Design, Landscape, Planning, Regeneration, Sustainability, Transport, Urban Design and Other Information Resources);
• Are able to identify and review new sites for inclusion in Sapling, as well as being prepared to update existing reviews. We are particularly keen to enhance Sapling's coverage of sites from Ireland, Australia, Canada and New Zealand, and would be especially pleased to accept suitably skilled Reviewers from these regions;
• Are from any part of the world, but have an excellent standard of English and a lively, engaging writing style;
• Are able to contribute four or more reviews a month;
• Have regular access to a computer, and are able to communicate via e-mail and submit or edit reviews using the dedicated Sapling Reviewers' Area web interface; however, no knowledge of web design or HTML is necessary;
• Are also interested in identifying and writing news stories for inclusion in the Sapling Newsletter (optional).

From its beginnings in 1998, Sapling has grown into a site with more than 200,000 page views every month. We hope that our volunteer Reviewers will play a major part in helping us continue this growth, while ensuring that the quality of our content is always of the highest standard.

To apply, please fill in and submit the form below. The form includes three parts: first, it asks for basic details about you; second, it asks you to tell us about relevant knowledge, skills and experience; and third, it asks you to write a sample review. In case of any technical difficulties with the form, we recommend writing and saving your answers in a separate Word file before copying and pasting these into the appropriate form fields.

There is no pre-determined limit on how many people can become Reviewers - we are just looking for suitable people, whose combined interests cover the whole range of Sapling's themes.
