J&L Landscapes

J&L Landscapes describes itself as "the premier landscaping and gardening service in Bristol", offering "a wide range of landscaping services from grass cutting to ground clearances to tree surgery". To its credit, the firm has one of the most visually sophisticated websites that Sapling has come across, and this is very effective at conveying a professional and dynamic image. However, the initial visual feast creates a great sense of expectation that is not really met by the site's content. It does provide basic illustrated information on all of J&L's landscaping and gardening services, such as patios, ponds, landscaping and plant hire, but the 'Portfolio' section fails to deliver the expected images of completed projects. There are also one or two technical glitches that need sorting out, including a non-functioning search box and a music soundtrack that's impossible to turn off (visitors can mute the music on one page but as soon as they load another page it starts up again - it would be much better if this setting worked sitewide).
