DOTARS, the Australian Department of Transport and Regional Services, provides policy advice to the Ministers for the Transport and Regional Services portfolio and delivers a variety of programs on behalf of the Commonwealth Government. The Department also conducts research, analysis and safety investigations; provides safety information and advice based upon these investigations; and performs regulatory functions. The DOTARS website is clearly arranged into colour-coded sections covering the key areas of interest - Transport, Regional Development, Territories of Australia and Local Government, with a further section including background about the Department itself. Overall, the layout of the site is excellent, and it succeeds in being a comprehensive and valuable resource. Awarded a Sapling Commendation. [GAS, 12 Aug 2005].

The Planning Inspectorate carries out appeals and similar casework under planning and environmental legislation in England and Wales, with separate mini-sites covering each country. Overall, the site is well designed and comprehensive, with prominent sections covering large inquiries and appeals, together with sections devoted to planning news, employment, rights of way and publications.
